摘要: Abstract In each of two successive years, spring barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) was fertilized with 90, 130 and 170 kg nitrogen (N) ha −1 . For the higher application rates, N either given entirely in seedbed (i.e. single application), or split, most being at sowing 40 added when crop reached initial ear emergence stage development split application). Assessments were made proportion quality whole its straw fraction advancing maturity. Raising quantity fertilizer led to greater lignification a reduction vitro digestibility organic matter (IVOMD) fraction. Responses comparable all stages maturity, but differed between experiments, probably because interactions climatic factors. Compared application, approach reduced improved IVOMD. The slightly by applications. contrast, applications had small, positive, though non-significant, effect on this parameter. Increased as well may combine depress IVOMD response heavier fertilization. By delaying part until effects partly alleviated.
