摘要: MscS and MscL, bacterial mechanosensitive channels, play crucial roles in the hypo-osmotic shock response. However, only has homologs eukaryotes. These are called MscS-like proteins or MSL proteins. have changed both structurally functionally during evolution now localized not to membrane of chloroplast, which is thought be a descendant an ancient, free-living bacterium, but also cell endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane, suggesting that role diverged. In this brief review, we mainly focus on two fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe ER protect cells from shock-induced death by regulating intracellular Ca(2+) concentrations.
