The School Health Programme in Behera: an integrated helminth control programme at Governorate level in Egypt

摘要: School Health Programmes offer the opportunity to deliver public health interventions a great number of beneficiaries at relatively low cost and are seen with growing interest by policy makers in developing countries donors' communities. In Egypt pilot Programme has been implemented for past 6 years Behera, largest most populous Governorate Nile Delta. The integrated additional activities control soil-transmitted helminthiasis, human fascioliasis anaemia National Schistosomiasis Control (NSCP), since 1988 Ministry Population (MoHP). To facilitate planning direct actions, strong monitoring system was also developed, that generated useful information schistosomiasis programme. practical steps adopted develop programme presented discussed. Results from three rounds (2000, 2001, 2002) analysed compared baseline data conducted 1996, together each activity. On basis experience gained Behera operational recommendations formulated.
