摘要: Background Leishmaniasis recidiva cutis (LRC) is rare in New World leishmaniasis. Only seven cases have been reported so far. Materials and methods Four are here. Parasite diagnosis was performed by classical of touch preparations, histopathologic sections, cultures. In addition, the detection parasite DNA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) all cases. Results Parasites were detected at least one primary lesions; however, only PCR positive recidivant lesions. Discussion LRC most likely represent a reactivation an initial infection, probably due to persistence parasites scarred tissue. Although lupoid leishmaniasis (LL) has used as synonym LRC, clear difference between LL can be defined clinical presentation while recurrent lesion. Conclusions The results indicate that it not appropriate use these two denominations synonyms. designation should maintained order define recidives occurring border old scar cutaneous leishmaniasis, avoiding confusion with form disease.
