摘要: Sepetiba bay, located about 60 km west of the metropolitan region Rio de Janeiro city, has undergone notable development in last decades, with establishment 400 industrial plants its basin, basically metallurgical, which release waste either straight into bay or through local rivers. The harbor also brought up a lot investment that area. This urban and expansion caused several environmental impacts, mainly due to presence heavy metals other potentially toxic substances present effluents discharged bay. work aimed assess metal (Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb e Zn) contamination mobility sediments from acid-volatile sulfides (AVS) concentration simultaneously extracted (Σ[SEM) were determined 65 sediment samples representing whole results obtained showed Cd, Zn presented higher concentrations northeastern area (mainly mouth Guandu Canal Sao Francisco rivers), while highest Ni observed western comparison between SEM Canadian Sediment Quality Guidelines (TEL PEL) indicated Cd values may hazard aquatic organisms (concentration levels above PEL); elements below PEL, suggesting low probability toxicological effects organisms. On hand, ratio Σ[SEM]/[AVS] was 1 region, indicating that, spite high analyzed this area, they are trapped sediment, as sulfides. total same distribution pattern for observed, classifying level 2, Zn, 1,
