摘要: Caesalpinia ferrea Mart. is a species belonging to Leguminosae family commonly known in Brazil as "juca" or "pau-ferro". It occurs from the Northeast Region State of Rio de Janeiro and it widely utilized folk medicine due its several therapeutic properties such anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial antithermic, which indicate presence compounds pharmacological interest. Besides, many studies with plants look for industrial applications. Based upon bioactive described this so far, work aimed investigate biological activities water extract C. seeds. The results indicated following activities: cellulase, amylase, anticoagulant larvicide against A. aegypti Nevertheless, did not show other assayed: acute toxic activity, hemolytic, heparinasic, antibacterial antifungal activities.
