摘要: The strong hydrophobicity of the chromophore pyrene combined with its ability to form an excimer has led use as a fluorescent replacement hydrophobes typically used in associative thickeners prepare water-soluble polymers (WSPs) labeled small number pendants yield pyrene-labeled WSPs (Py-WSPs). Since kinetics formation by diffusion are coupled, fluorescence decays monomer and can be analyzed globally assess fraction labels that isolated solution (f agg) pyrenes pre-associated instantaneously upon direct absorption photon. This review describes how new developments global analysis Py-WSP aqueous solutions quantitative information about strength f agg Py-WSP. Most importantly for mimics thickeners, viscoelastic behavior series hydrophobically modified alkali swellable emulsion copolymers. Based on viscoelasticity results, Py-WSPs appear excellent non-fluorescent commercial displaying similar terms massive shear thinning increase zero-shear viscosity polymer concentration. Consequently, experiments described this provide solid foundation characterization both rheology measurements.
