摘要: Cystic echinococcosis (CE), a zoonotic disease caused by Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato, is endemic in the Mediterranean, where pastoral activity widespread, as life cycle of this helminth involves sheep, well other livestock, intermediate hosts. We review recent studies on CE from Mediterranean countries. Reliable data CE, human and animal epidemiology to treatment, remain fragmented insufficient gauge magnitude problem beyond local communities. The lack major advances leaves clinicians without an evidence base which make sound clinical decisions. Despite wealth publications subject, remains neglected well. Hope seen establishment European Registry for Echinococcosis, but implementation maintenance such important tool will require hard work, political commitment resources, monetary, otherwise.
