摘要: Objective To evaluate the frequency of qualitative features for hippocampal developmental abnormalities (HiDeA) definition on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) patients and healthy controls, highlighting which were more sensitive specific to epileptic syndrome. Methods We enrolled 93 controls 187 MTLE patients. Among patients, 133 MRI-negative 54 had sclerosis (HS). Two blinded, trained investigators defined HiDeA if three signs present, including at least one following: (1) globular shape (HCS), (2) verticalized collateral sulcus, (3) medial positioning hippocampus (HCP). After evaluating prevalence we assessed each sign. Then, classified differences type or number diagnostic features, calculating their sensitivity specificity. Fisher exact test was used assess statistical significance. Results detected 36 cases (19.25%) eight (8.6%) controls. In particular, present 25 (18.8%) with MTLE. all visual criteria here considered, HCS showed higher both group (88%) HS-MTLE (91%). HCP, thickened subiculum, reduction upper horizontal portion parahippocampal gyrus (HCTH) demonstrated a 100% specificity groups. confirmed have highest (100%), whereas HCP (98.8%). All these statistically associated HiDeA. Electroencephalographic focus concordant side 52.2% An association not found among treatment responsiveness. Significance identified characteristic HiDeA, such as HCTH differentiating between The identification and, importantly, could be helpful make confident diagnosis.
