Methods The relation to blood levels albumin, white cell count, hemoglobin, HDL cholesterol, creatinine was examined population-based sample 4,065 men women aged 71 years or older. A Cox proportional hazards model determine mortality during 4.9 years. Sociodemographic factors, diagnosed chronic conditions, activities daily living disability were controlled for analyses. Results All showed graded relationship health. After adjusting other indicators, hemoglobin count significantly associated fair poor When indicators adjusted for, still significant predictor Conclusion Self-rated has basis, it can be sensitive barometer physiologic states. likely predict because covers spectrum conditions better than variables measured study.
