摘要: Motor-vehicle incidents in Taiwan are a major cause of head injuries. Our objective was to analyze the characteristics injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents terms injured person's demographic characteristics, time and types crash, injury severity on abbreviated scale (AIS), medical cost benefits helmet protection. For this purpose we conducted an epidemiologic survey 2451 consecutive victims traffic accidents, coming to, or managed at, emergency care department large Taipei metropolitan hospital 1990. The results showed that most common motorcycle incident. Motorcycle accident patients were generally young males, laborers students. Most occurred between 16:00 23:00, peaking at 21:00 day. Forty-three points four percent admitted, fatalities within one week collision. elderly with high AIS comprised nonsurvivors. According our data, usage about 14% overall. Helmetless riders numerous among total victims. A significant difference noted helmeted users motorcycles, compared those who wore no helmet.
