Propagation characteristics of guided waves in stratified metallic optical waveguides

摘要: An eigenvalue equation is derived for stratified metallic optical slab waveguides with any number of layers. The solved using the numerical zoom analysis (NZA) method. applied to various slabs and propagation characteristics guided waves are determined, which may be useful optimizing design parameters. It found possible, proper optimization, a polarizer having hundreds decibels extinction ratio at cost fraction decibel insertion loss. Examples optimizations respect wavelength, relative refractive indices, core/clad geometries, etc. demonstrated single or double metal Guidelines determining film thickness have been formulated tabulated many metals.
