Attenuation characteristics of single-mode metal-clad graded-index waveguides with a dielectric buffer: a simple and accurate numerical method

摘要: We present a simple and accurate numerical method for the determination of complex propagation constants metal-clad graded-index planar waveguides with arbitrary refractive-index profiles. Numerical results practically important profiles such as exponential Gaussian are presented compared homogeneous core waveguides. The analysis should find application in design high-differential-attenuation polarizers, reducing losses integrated-optic modulators using metal electrodes, other devices overlays.
