Obesity among people with and without mental retardation across adulthood.

摘要: Objective: This study was designed to explore obesity during adulthood and the likelihood of moving out among 1809 adults without disability 680 with mental retardation who received care at same primary practices period 1990 2003. Research Method Procedures: A retrospective observational design using medical records first identified patients (MR) age-matched controls disabilities. Data on BMI collected each visit allowed exploration three levels. Moving defined as having a <25 kg/m2. We also abstracted data age, sex, race, other conditions. Results: For 20 29 years 33.1% 21% MR had >30 Between ages 50 59 years, 40.5% 35.2% Patients mild similar prevalence rates severe significantly lower compared through age. Throughout from 60 between 15% 40% individuals MR, were previously obese, not currently obese. Discussion: adult an increasing proportion are obese. However, is chronic state; many people transition back normal body weight.
