Microhardness studies in alkali halide mixed crystals

摘要: Microhardness measurements done in KCl, KBr and different compositions of KCl-KBr mixed crystals show that it varies nonlinearly with composition. In order to investigate the nature defects, several techniques such as etching, ionic conductivity dielectric loss have been employed which showed cristals are more defective, containing a high concentration dislocations, low-angle grain boundaries vacancies compared end products KCl KBr. These imperfections appear be responsible for nonlinear variation microhardness crystals. The studies also revealed difference size ions constituting system internal strains turn give rise affecting
