STUDIES OF CHRONIC MORPHINE POISONING TN DOGS I. GENERAL SYMPTOMS AND BEHAVIOR DURING ADDICTION AND WITHDRAWAL

摘要: Symptoms and behavior are recorded in twenty-four addictions to morphine twenty-two withdrawals dogs, which detailed observations were made over periods covering from forty three hundred thirty days with doses of 30 230 mgm. per kilogram. Considerable variability symptoms during chronic poisoning was observed. The severity withdrawal varied markedly different dogs. These differences not related length addiction or size dose at withdrawal. Two dogs showed very severe both these the relatively small. animals died administration large doses. One on third day When observed this group considered as a whole they form composite picture that is strikingly similar obtained man; particularly true symptoms. We believe reported paper show there marked similarity between man dogs; makes dog suitable test object for study many phases problem; results experiments can be applied problems greater validity than those any other laboratory animal.
