摘要: ABSTRACT Background Bisphosphonates, inhibitors of osteoclasts, have been shown to alleviate many the devastating consequences associated with metastatic bone disease. However, recent reports that bisphosphonates may cause osteonecrosis jaws. Since publication these initial reports, authors treated several patients jaws who had a history receiving bisphosphonate therapy. Methods The reviewed medical records visited their clinic between September 2003 and December 2004 having received therapy but no irradiation head neck. Results Eleven (four female seven male) mean age 69 years were included in this report. They for duration 34 months. Radiographic data showed loss density at sites osteonecrosis, histologic examination demonstrated necrosis without evidence metastases. Conclusions Clinical Implications Further research is required better understanding role development Until more known, recommend mesures be taken prevent those risk, including identifying before they undergo dental surgery. To help identify such patients, propose use screening questionnaire. When feasible, physicians should consult patients' general dentists or oral surgeons begin
