摘要: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are not vaccinated at the same rate as general medical patients. IBD places patients increased risk for developing vaccine-preventable illnesses, and this is further exacerbated by immunosuppressive therapy. Therefore, gastroenterologists should familiarize themselves health maintenance measures pertaining to IBD. This article highlights vaccinations required IBD, especially those who immunosuppressed: influenza; pneumococcal pneumonia; hepatitis A B viruses; human papilloma virus; meningococcal disease; tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis; measles, mumps, rubella; varicella zoster; herpes zoster. also discusses issues regarding travel outside of United States, well provides suggestions areas quality improvement that needed in field.
