Assessment of Helicobacter pylori eradication by virgin olive oil.

摘要: Background:  A recent study conducted by Medina et al. disclosed that virgin olive oil has a bactericidal effect in vitro against Helicobacter pylori because of its contents certain phenolic compounds with dialdehydic structures. We carried out two clinical trials to evaluate the on H. pylori-infected individuals. Materials and Methods:  Two different pilot studies were performed 60 adults. In first study, thirty subjects who tested positive for H. pylori received 30 g washed 14 days, after 1 month, patients took unwashed another 14 days. second group 30 pylori-infection status was checked urea breath test. Results:  eradicated 8 individuals when microorganism 4–6 weeks from intervention although 12 did not show infection at 24–72 hour last dose. Eradication rates 27 40% intention treat per protocol, respectively. Moreover, only 3 negative but 5 10 11% It must also be noted 13 withdrew taste nausea drawbacks. Conclusions:  The administration showed moderate effectiveness eradicating H. pylori. Further are needed confirm these findings, especially longer periods, conditions, several types oils.
