摘要: OBJECTIVES: To determine the stability of sodium hypochlorite (diluted household bleach) when stored for 30 days in various types containers and to efficacy low concentrations free available chlorine inactivate test bacteria. DESIGN: Laboratory-based study. Solutions standard bleach were prepared using tap water or sterile distilled at dilutions 1:100, 1:50, 1:5. Chlorine measured, then solutions placed into five polyethylene left room temperature (20°C) under conditions (translucent with light exposure without air; brown opaque container air exposure). Samples pH determinations taken time 0 on 7, 14, 21, 30, 40. Bactericidal activity was assessed Association Official Analytical Chemists Use-Dilution Method. Test bacteria included Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella choleraesuis. RESULTS: varied from 40% 50% range 1:50 1:100 other than closed 83% 85% 1:5 dilution but non-opaque 97% 100% containers. The lowest concentration solution that reliably inactivated all organisms 100 ppm. CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest do not need be fresh daily, as is recommended currently, inactivates S choleraesuis, P aeruginosa ppm
