摘要: There is increasing interest in using neuro-stimulation devices to achieve an ergogenic effect elite athletes. Although the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) does not currently prohibit techniques, a number of researchers have called on WADA consider its position this issue. Focusing trans-cranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) as case study imminent so-called ‘neuro-doping’ intervention, we argue that emerging evidence suggests tDCS may meet WADA’s own criteria (pertaining safety, performance-enhancing effect, and incompatibility with ‘spirit sport’) for method’s inclusion list prohibited substances methods. We begin by surveying general approach doping, highlight important limitations base regarding pharmacological doping substances. then review safety efficacy tDCS, despite significant shortcomings, there be sufficient prohibiting light comparable flaws In second half paper, question whether ought ban turns significantly it compatible sport’ criterion. critique some previously published positions this, advocate our sport-specific application-specific approach. Despite these arguments, finally conclude suggesting monitored rather than due compelling non-ideal considerations.
