摘要: Aging negatively impacts the ability to maintain postural stability due degraded control systems. The entropic half-life, a non-linear variable that quantifies transition of sample entropy with increasing time scales, elapses before old positional information no longer influences, or is related to, mechanisms regulate movement at current center pressure location. half-life provides more representative and comprehendible way detecting changes in complexity using measurement units time. purpose this study was determine effects aging on magnitude temporal structure during quiet single-limb stance. Center data 24 older younger subjects were analyzed. signal quantified by calculating medio-lateral anterior-posterior directions. excursion directions, path length, 95% ellipse area pressure. demonstrated significantly shorter for direction (p < 0.001), excursions 0.001) = increased lengths areas 0.001). results from showed even though frequent adjustments (shorter half-life), did not help reduce their stance, thus indicating an impaired peripheral and/or central neuromuscular mechanism.
