摘要: This paper explores the effects of aging on femoral neck (FN) anatomy in a study women aged 20-90years relation to implications for FN fracture propensity buckling. Five hundred and four participants were scanned by Quantitative Computed Tomography analyzed using Pro BIT (Mindways). cross-section was split through geometric center into superior inferior sectors. Bone mass, structural measurements, bone mineral density analyzed. Buckling ratio calculated as buckling radius cortical thickness. Between 2nd decade 8th decade, age-related integral mass reduction sector substantially larger than (33% compared 21%), especially superiorly inferiorly (53% vs 21%; p < 0.001), principally due thickness, averaged thickness (56%) with little difference density. Superior trabecular similar at 41% 43% respectively. Differential loss resulted 59% displacement (δ) center-of-mass from center. Differences δ age accounted 151% increase mean 9 23. Analysis confirms significant progressive major effect structure relative preservation cortex probably related maintenance regular loading result standing walking. Computation may allow prediction sideways fall.
