摘要: Rare-earth elements are of interest in several high-tech and environmental application areas, the two major ones concerning magnetic optical devices. In latter field, one can exploit unique photoluminescence properties rare-earth ions to develop novel or advanced lasers amplifiers. Glasses have been known for a long time as convenient host rare earths widely used fabrication solid-state lasers. Recently, guided-wave format has added advantages, namely small size, high pump power density, larger flexibility design fabrication. Thus, last few years, due great development communications, an increasing research activity focused on manufacture fibre optic integrated amplifiers, especially those based Er3+-doped glasses. The aim present paper is highlight spectroscopic techniques characterization rare-earth-doped glasses brief overview efforts progresses made area micro-optic integrated-optic A summary fundamentals measurements also provided.
