摘要: An analytic theory is presented of a model the soliton laser constructed by L. F. Mollenauer and R. H. Stolen. Use made fact that solitons are characterized completely pole locations residues reflection coefficient obtained from inverse scattering method. The effects loss, gain, dispersion, temporal shaping due to time-dependent gain described change locations. steady state determined requirement return their "starting" positions values in one round trip around laser. This picks pulse shape, energy, order. predictions confirmed numerical simulations non-linear Schroedinger equation. Several experimental observations explained: a) pulsewidth fiber length. b) shape intensity at output can approximate squared secant hyperbolic, but may not be equal hyperbolic. c) N = 2 excited preferentially over 1 soliton. Furthermore, shows length to, multiple of, envelope repetition period.
