摘要: Staphylococcus aureus is a significant human pathogen that causes wide range of diseases. Alpha-hemolysin (Hla), pore-forming cytotoxin produced by most S. strains, can cause tissue injury and plays critical role in the virulence this pathogen. In present study, we discovered diosmetin, natural flavonoid occurs primarily citrus fruits exhibits little anti-S. activity, could diminish production Hla culture supernatants concentration-dependent manner. The analysis cytotoxicity co-culture system A549 epithelial cells showed such inhibition confers protection against aureus-mediated injury. Our results suggested diosmetin has potential to be new anti-virulence drug for infection, particularly targeting Hla.
