摘要: This ethnographic study investigated leadership from the perspective of directors nursing (DONs) in proprietary homes. Data interviews and extensive participant observation with 10 DONs were analyzed using open coding content analysis. The drew on a priori concepts transformational theory to describe role, DON approaches leadership, factors that facilitate or impede article reports findings larger related conditions existing when participants entered position. Antecedent influenced organizational expectations incoming shaped participants' experiences. filling long-standing vacancies had reestablish influence authority role. Those replacing unsuccessful confronted serious regulatory, care, morale issues. In contrast, successful predecessors experienced support confidence their abilities lead.
