Challenges faced by public health nursing leaders in hyperturbulent times.

摘要: Objective This study discusses the challenges and characteristics of effective public health nursing leaders in local departments barriers to leadership during hyperturbulent conditions 2008–2010. Design Sample Participants were drawn from a purposive sample seven directors (DON) six county LHDs two states for this qualitative using inductive methods. Measures Semistructured telephone interviews conducted, open-ended questions. Data analysis consisted coding, pattern identification, theme development, assisted by use ATLAS.ti™. Credibility was achieved through intercoder agreement resonance findings with participants. Results Two underlying emerged: dissonance leading ambiguity. Three key attributes identified as follows: collaborative change management, life-long learning, being visionary. DONs extrinsic intrinsic effectiveness systems PHN practice. Conclusion Results suggest ways support order overcome such defined competencies, continuing education, mentorship opportunities.
