摘要: Interaction of curcumin with lipid bilayers is not well understood. A recent experiment showed that significantly affected the single-channel lifetime gramicidin in a 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC) bilayer without affecting its conductance. We performed two experiments to understand this result. By isothermal titration calorimetry, we measured partition coefficient binding DOPC bilayers. x-ray lamellar diffraction, thickness change as function curcumin/lipid ratio. nonlinear membrane-thinning effect by was discovered. The data were qualitatively interpreted combination calorimetry and results. show only does thin bilayer, it might also weaken elasticity moduli. result implies may affect membrane proteins modifying properties host membrane.
