摘要: Abstract Individual identification via non-invasive sampling is of prime importance in conservation genetics and behavioural ecology. This approach allows for studies wild animals without having to catch them, or even observe them. The material used as a source DNA usually faeces, shed hairs, feathers. It has been recently shown that this may lead genotyping errors, mainly due allelic dropout. In addition these technical there are problems with accurately estimating the probability identity (PI, two individuals identical genotypes) because presence close relatives natural populations. As consequence, before initiating an extensive study involving sampling, we strongly suggest conducting pilot assess both difficulties PI genetic markers be used. could carried out three steps: (i) estimation using preliminary data; (ii) simulations taking into account choosing error rate sufficiently low assessing scientific question; (iii) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) experiments check if it technically possible achieve rate.
