摘要: This is the first detailed "grass roots" account of Uzbekistan's protracted decollectivisation process. It explores continuity and change in relations between rural communities, agricultural producers, local state authorities cotton-growing region Khorezm. Built up during Soviet period, cotton sector has maintained its importance for communities years following independence, although economic parameters social conditions have worsened significantly. reform path does not follow that most post-socialist scenarios with past remains strong.
