摘要: The polarographic behavior of benzhydryl bromide at the dropping mercury electrode was investigated in dimethylformamide 25degC. It gives three waves, with half-wave potentials about +0.19, −0.15, and −1.00 V vs. SCE. first wave is anodic, while others are cathodic. concluded that bromide, prior to being electrolytically reduced, rapidly reacts cathode according following equation:3(C6H5)2CHBr+Hg→2(C6H5)2CH·+(C6H5)2CH++HgBr3−The given by ascribed oxidation HgBr3− HgBr2; second, reduction Hg Br−, third, (C6H5)2CH· (C6H5)2CH−. cation, (C6H5)2CH+, found give no wave. Such discussed comparison corresponding chloride, which a single usual two-electron transfer.
