摘要: Enzymes that depend on vitamin B6 (and in particular its metabolically active form, pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, PLP) are of great relevance to biology and medicine, as they catalyze a wide variety biochemical reactions mainly involving amino acid substrates. Although PLP-dependent enzymes belong small number independent evolutionary lineages, encompass more than 160 distinct catalytic functions, thus representing striking example divergent evolution. The importance remarkable versatility these enzymes, well the difficulties their functional classification, create need for an integrated source information about them. database http://bioinformatics.unipr.it/B6db contains documented B6-dependent activities relevant protein families, defined monophyletic groups sequences possessing same enzymatic function. One or families were associated each 121 with known sequences. Hidden Markov models (HMMs) built from family alignments incorporated database. These HMMs can be used classification genomic sets predicted An such analyses (a census human genes coding enzymes) is provided here, whereas many accessible through itself. curated repository molecular important group enzymes. This logically organized available computational analyses, providing key resource identification, comparative analysis
