摘要: In this paper, we review two main recently dominating applications of magneto-optics (MO). The first one is related to a unique MO non-reciprocity. For example, the non-reciprocity in isolators enables complete transmission forward propagation direction, while it prevents spurious back-reflection, which needed preserve proper operation active optical elements like lasers or amplifiers systems. Local enhancement activity by field concentration nanostructured magneto-plasmonic and magneto-photonic systems opens new horizons isolators, circulators, switches. We will discuss effects using surface magneto-plasmons periodic grating apply nonreciprocal isolating second application characterization magnetic multilayers, systems, nanostructures. techniques profit from high near-surface sensitivity local magnetization, nondestructive character, ultrafast response, possibility measure all components magnetization vector means magnetometry. Furthermore, Kerr effect allows separation contributions originating different depths, materials multilayer as well laterally modulated self-organized nanostructures fabricated via modern nanotechnologies.
