摘要: Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches are widely used by patients throughout a broad range of medical fields diseases, often self-administered without the involvement physicians or other members health care team. CAM use is well documented in cancer chronic illnesses, emerging data radiation oncology show usage 26% to 97% therapy patients. No information is, however, available on radiology imaging procedure fields. This article reviews fundamental principles experience with wide spectrum oncology-a field that shares many parallels radiology, such as prevalence imaging, procedural requirements, cooperation demanded from patients.CAM defined "approaches practices typically not part conventional care," includes mind- body-based (eg, meditation, massage, acupuncture), natural products herbs, vitamins, minerals), interventions. Supplements frequently alleviate side effects promote overall well-being. Specifically, mindfulness/meditation known reduce anxiety enhance physical emotional wellbeing neurologic through physiological, psychological, perhaps placebo mechanisms. Such require repetitive invasive examinations procedures, for treatment, surveillance/follow-up, monitoring example, surveillance MRI multiple sclerosis. suggest vastly understudied area CAMs deserve further investigation both Further research needed develop refined recommendations national/and international guidelines its use.
