High genetic differentiation with no evidence of hybridisation between four limpet species (Patella spp.) revealed by allozyme loci

摘要: The occurrence of hybridisation between limpet species the genus Patella has always been a contentious issue. Although previous allozyme study reported high differentiation and no vulgata Linnaeus, 1758, depressa Pennant, 1777 ulyssiponensis Gmelin, 1791 along English shores, recent finding an mtDNA haplotype P. in individual raised new doubts on this To further possibility their level genetic differentiation, ten loci were screened using starch gel electrophoresis for ulyssiponensis, depressa, rustica from Atlantic coast Iberian Peninsula. Our results show species, which could be clearly separated into different clusters with Bayesian clustering algorithm. No significant signs detected any four species. Thus, hypothesis across sympatric distribution is not supported. Two recovered within that related to Hardy-Weinberg disequilibrium found locus MPI.
