Reliability-based inspection optimization of complex structures: a brief retrospective

摘要: Abstract This paper presents a brief retrospective of the development and application reliability-based techniques for assessment complex structures with emphasis on inspection optimization offshore bridge structures. An optimal program is key to optimize lifetime maintenance cost while maintaining safety serviceability at acceptable levels. The experience two authors from different fields, structures, first author, highway bridges, second brought together in this paper, which examines approaches adopted each field, reasons influenced way methods have been developed applied. similarities differences between optimizations are also discussed.
