摘要: This paper reviews the effectiveness and costs of strategies to improve roadbed stability in permafrost regions, based on a synthesis literature findings. Roadbeds regions experience instability when embankment loading its heat absorption properties degrade foundation. A variety engineering are used mitigate this effect. The review summarizes rationale, effectiveness, four types strategies, namely those that control thawing, cool roadbed, insulate reduce fill weight. reveals or weight do not reverse long-term degradation foundations. Strategies by implementing air convection embankments, ventilation ducts, thermosiphons, drains, combinations these effective reducing temperatures stabilizing roadbed. Costs vary geographic climatic conditions proximity materials construction site. Reported data suggest conducting normal maintenance is less expensive than cooling but maintaining serviceability may be feasible.
