摘要: Are concepts and categories unique to the human brain? In this chapter, we review extensive empirical evidence on nonhuman animals' ability form three broad types of concepts: (1) perceptual , in which members a class are perceptually similar each other; (2) nonsimilarity-based united by common function or outcome; (3) abstract based relations between among stimuli. This behavioral research strongly suggests that animals can many different concepts, although exact mechanisms concept formation remain elusive.
