摘要: The Ranunculaceae genus Anemone (order Ranunculales), comprising more than 150 species, mostly herbs, has long been used in folk medicine and worldwide ethnomedicine. Various medicinal compounds, especially triterpenoid saponins, have found plants, some of which shown anticancer activities. Some compounds extracts display immunomodulatory, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial More 50 species ethnopharmacological uses, provide clues for modern drug discovery. exert other bioactivities via multiple pathways. However, a comprehensive review resources is lacking. Here we summarize the ethnomedicine knowledge recent progress chemodiversity pharmacological diversity as well emerging molecular machineries functions compounds. phylogenetic relationship reconstructed based on nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS) chloroplast markers. phylogeny largely congruent with morphology-based classification. Commonly herbs are distributed each subgenus section, chemical biological studies unexplored taxa warranted. Gene expression profiling relevant omics platforms could reveal differential effects phytometabolites. Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics should be highlighted deciphering novel therapeutic mechanisms utilities
