Drugs and Drug Candidates from Marine Sources: An Assessment of the Current "State of Play"

摘要: The potential of the marine environment to produce candidate compounds (structures) as leads to, or even direct drugs from, has been actively discussed for last 50 so years. Over this time frame, several have led drugs, usually in area cancer (due funding sources). This review is designed show where there successes, but also that a number disease areas, are structures originally isolated from invertebrates and free-living microbes potential, will need be "adopted" by pharmaceutical houses order maximize their potential.
