摘要: The repair of complex abdominal wall defects remains one the most challenging procedures facing reconstructive surgeons. Through these collaborative efforts, that were once thought to be impossible reconstruct can now repaired, and patients who left a miserable quality life are offered hope. Among important advances in this field have been adoption component separation many its modifications, development new lightweight synthetic mesh, explosion biologic mesh into surgical armamentarium surgeon. While grafts gaining popularity, molecular processes host reactions not only unclear but often misunderstood misrepresented. As result, comprehensive analysis basic science concepts presented review should help practicing surgeon with understanding what biologics actually do we expect meshes accomplish. This article focuses on summarizing current evidence clinical outcomes utilization published peer-reviewed literature.
