摘要: Owing to resident work-hour reductions and more permanent personnel in the newborn intensive care unit (NICU), we sought determine if pediatric housestaff are missing learning opportunities procedural training due non-participation. A prospective, observational study was conducted at an academic NICU using self-reported data from neonatal after attempting 188 procedures on 109 neonates, analyzed Fisher's exact χ2-tests. Housestaff first attempted 32% of (P<0.001) were less likely make attempts early year (P<0.001). There no significant difference based urgency situation (P=0.742). Of performed by non-housestaff personnel, 93% completed while present elsewhere unit. Pediatric minority NICU, even non-urgent situations, often uninvolved other procedures, representing missed opportunities.
