摘要: The development and biological characteristics of Haemaphysalis longicornis were investigated under field conditions in Xiaowutai National Natural Reserve Area, North China. Unfed larvae, nymphs adults fed on rabbits exposed to daylight. Three free-living stages allowed develop plot selected a tick natural habitat. host seeking behavior seasonal occurrence observed. active from mid March October. premoult period preoviposition females regulating phases their life cycle. developmental durations eggs, larvae constant regardless when the started. oviposition periods May June statistically shorter than those July August. daily patterns engorged demonstrated unobvious peak, which differed peak latter occurred 4th day oviposition. Moreover, positive correlation was found between mass laid egg body weight (r = 0.62, P < 0.001). female reproductive efficiency indices 2.9, 6.1, 10.5 9.0 May, June, August, respectively. mean (3.33 mg) molting significantly higher that (2.35 males (P 0.001), but weights both sexes overlapping.
