摘要: Molybdenum and heavy metals are toxicants that needed to be removed from the environment as they non-biodegradable pose a serious threat ecology. A previously isolated keratin-degrading Bacillus sp. strain khayat was shown able reduce molybdenum (sodium molybdate) blue (Mo-blue). Reduction occurred optimally at pHs of between 5.8 6.8 temperatures 25 34 °C. Glucose best electron donor for supporting molybdate reduction followed by sucrose, fructose, glycogen, lactose, meso-inositol glycerol in descending order. Other requirements include phosphate concentration 5.0 7.5 mM 10 20 mM. The absorption spectrum Mo-blue produced similar previous Mo-reducing bacterium, closely resembles reduced phosphomolybdate. inhibited Hg (ii), Ag (i), Cu As (v) Pb (ii) 84.7, 78.9, 53.5, 36.8 27.7 %, respectively. Analysis using phylogenetic analysis resulted tentative identification bacterium khayat. unable utilize any xenobiotics sources but grow on diesel SDS. ability this detoxify several makes an important tool bioremediation multiple toxicants.
