摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses DNA hybridization arrays and highlights the advantages of using chick embryos for expression analysis studies. Gene profiling is a powerful approach to characterize global changes in gene identify novel genes. Traditional methods that evaluate expression, such as Northern blotting reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, monitor levels individual In contrast, permit high throughput, genome-level transcript profiling, where thousands genes are measured at same time. On array, each clone (either complementary or oligonucleotide) situated fixed location, which greatly lessens burden identifying corresponding clones post-hybridization. With current technology, all known genome can be placed on single arrayed tailored interest researcher. Importantly, multiple copies any array produced, allowing evaluated different time points under varying conditions. Sensitivity issues overcome by minimal volumes subtracted probes. Array formats broadly divided into macroarrays microarrays. The pros cons these provides information researchers interested technologies.
