摘要: Latin America is home to dramatically diverse agroecological regions which harbor a high concentration of underutilized plant species, whose genetic resources hold the potential address challenges such as sustainable agricultural development, food security and sovereignty, climate change. This paper examines status an expert-informed list crops in analyses how most common features underuse apply these. The analysis pays special attention if existing international policy legal frameworks on biodiversity effectively support or not conservation use crops. Results show that all minor are affected by same degree neglect, aspects under any crop vary greatly, calling for specific interventions. We also current instruments have so far provided limited stimulus funding these Finally, proposes analytical framework identifying evaluating crop's underutilization, order define appropriate type levels intervention (international, national, local) improving its status.
