摘要: Theory, supported by some experimental evidence, suggests that metal-on-metal (m-m) hip implants can have protective elastohydrodynamic lubrication films during continuous walking may reduce wear. A simple transient model indicated such were remarkably constant motion and could prevent surface contact of smooth, low clearance implants. However, these both form breakdown rapidly intermittent in vivo. Thus, a more representative simulator protocol was specified involving repeated cycles Stopping, dwelling with load for 1 minute starting 10 sessions applied conditions. An automatic control system designed to implement this simulator. Six tested about 3 million (Mc) under the developed stop-dwell-start protocol. Compared testing similar implants, wear at Mc approximately doubled (from 0.6 1.2 mm3) rates showed considerable increase 0.04 0.19 mm3/Mc). The m-m should be investigated as well motions. Ultimately, designs address issue protocols.
