摘要: Background Previously, our group successfully established one of the nation's first Perioperative Surgical Homes (PSHs) aimed at coordinating services to patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) and knee (TKA). As we now focus on extending PSH other service lines within hospital, long-term sustainability this practice model is an important factor consider moving forward. Methods We prospectively collected data from all who underwent elective TKA THA institution between October 1, 2012, September 30, 2014. Prospectively included length stay (LOS), 30-day readmission rate, postoperative pain scores, complications. Results During 2-year period, there were 328 joint patients. Overall, median LOS was significantly shorter in second year initiative (P = 0.03). Stratified by procedure, for 0.02), whereas did not differ 2 time periods. In initiative, more discharged home than a skilled nursing facility compared with 1 0.02). Readmission rates 30 days after surgery 0.9% (0.0-4.4) 3.3% (confidence interval, 1.3%-7.2%) significant). Pain scores change Conclusions Data implementation demonstrate similarly positive results LOS, control, discharge destination, readmission, transfusion rates,
