摘要: Stilbenoids have been considered as an alternative phytotherapeutic treatment against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection. The combined effect of e-viniferin and johorenol A with the standard antibiotics, vancomycin linezolid, was assessed MRSA ATCC 33591 HUKM clinical isolate. minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value individual tested compounds fractional index (FICI) agents were, respectively, determined using microbroth dilution test microdilution checkerboard (MDC) method. Only synergistic outcome from will be substantiated for its rate bacterial killing time-kill assay. MIC both strains 0.05 mg/mL whereas strain susceptible to 0.1 mg/mL e-viniferin. MDC study showed that only combination between (FICI 0.25) 0.19). All other combinations (e-viniferin-linezolid, A-vancomycin, A-linezolid) were either indifferent or additive strains. However, despite FICI showing e-viniferin-vancomycin, TKA analysis displayed antagonistic interaction bacteriostatic action As conclusion, can a stilbenoid it antagonized bactericidal activity vancomycin. These findings therefore disputed previous report acted in synergism but revealed targets similar site close proximity vancomycin’s action, possibly at membrane protein. Hence, this has huge potential further studied developed combating future.
